EXTEMPORE was started in 2003, as a result of its members’ interest in Baroque music (17th and 18th centuries) and on the performance parameters of such period. EXTEMPORE is currently recognized as one of the most prominent early music ensembles in Colombia due to its quality, professionalism and spirit, apart from its excellent performance style.
EXTEMPORE has participated in numerous musical events in Colombia like: The 32nd International Culture Festival in Tunja, the 2007 Early Music Festival in Bogota, the Opening of the Distrital Commission for the Bicentennial of the Independence of Colombia, the 46th Religious Music Festival (Popayán), the 2nd, 3th and 4th Early Music Gathering in Villa de Leyva, as well as in events sponsored by the Central Bank of Colombia in cities like San Juan de Pasto, Armenia, Pereira and Manizales.
EXTEMPORE has also given concerts in places like the Auditorium at the Compensar Convention Center, the Fabio Lozano Auditorium at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, the Germán Arciniegas Library in Villavicencio, the Teresa Cuervo Auditorium at the National Museum of Colombia, the Concert Hall at the Luis Angel Arango Library, and the Beethoven Hall at the Antonio María Valencia Conservatorium in Cali.
In 2008, EXTEMPORE was invited by the University of Talca, Chile, to give concerts in Curicó and Talca, and also participated in the 40th “Semanas Musicales” International Festival in Frutillar. EXTEMPORE has also performed at the Centre National des Arts du Canada in Ottawa (December 2010), at Cairo Opera House in Egypt and at Palais de l'Unesco Beirut, Libano (October 2011), as a special guest of the Embassy of Colombia.
In 2012, Extempore makes the release of their first album, "From Life, Pain and Madness."
In last October 2013, EXTEMPORE was recognized by the Cultural Agenda of the Congress of the Republic of Colombia ''for his invaluable contribution to the preservation and dissemination of Baroque music in our country, and to his great contribution to the good image of Colombia abroad through your international presentations at the highest level''.
